Certified Pool Tech

 

Job Summary

A Certified Pool Technician employee oversees the operation of the swimming pools. They maintain heaters, pumps, chlorination equipment and motors. They clean debris from pools and adjust water chemistry to maintain proper balances. They handle minor repairs for plumbing, electrical, poolside furniture, buildings and maintain building grounds.

Day to Day

• Diagnoses and maintains swimming pools, filtration systems and pumps.
• Maintain the pH and Chlorine values for proper chemical balances for the swimming pools.
• Maintain the pool pumps, pool filters, pool heaters, and chemical equipment.
• Maintain the pool areas including pool deck, pool furniture, pool fencing, and pool trash receptacles. This includes resetting pool furniture to original plan. Clean / scrub tables, chairs, lounges, and trash receptacles daily.
• Maintain building grounds around the buildings, around pools, fountain, and parking lot. This includes picking trash up out of flower beds, planters, parking lot, and all surrounding building areas daily. Replaces all trashcan liners on the outside of the buildings and on pool decks daily (excluding the cart barn and golf cart return trash receptacles).
• Regularly testing swimming pool water quality and records levels daily.
• Use swimming pool vacuum pumps to clean the pool floor. Use telescopic pole with net to clean and remove any debris on pool surface.
• Maintain equipment like pool covers, umbrellas, and gates.
• Report equipment faults or water quality problems to manager
• Performs other duties as assigned.

About You

• Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually having had a similar position for one to two years or associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship .
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
• Must hold a Certified Pool Operator certificate.
• Knowledge of the regulations regarding the State of Florida Department of Health Public Pool and Bathing.
• Skill in the use of equipment such as pool pumps, motors, pool heaters, walking and riding mowers, chain saws and a variety of powered and nonpowered hand tools.
• The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee must frequently lift light and heavy objects, use tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguish between shades of color.
• The work is performed outside, where the employee is exposed to noise, dirt, machinery with
  moving parts, irritating chemicals and inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
